Standard government protocol is every 3 years MREs need to be inspected to make sure they're still in good shape. If they pass, they are good for another 3 years. Reliably this process can be repeated as many as 5 times before the nutritional benefits completely dissipate. Most sellers DO NOT have proper protocols to inspect their MREs and give it the approval for another 3 years.
